Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Shows New Changes

Recently curated approval ratings indicate that Donald Trump and the Republican Party will have to climb a mountain to win over the public ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. The restless political environment in the country appears to have swayed citizens’ views against the businessman-turned-politician, as evidenced by the latest ratings for the Trump administration.

Here’s what new Donald Trump approval rating shows

According to a recent report published by The Economist, public opinion of the current president has hit an all-time low in 2026, with Donald Trump’s net approval rating presently sitting at -15.

The fall seems to have been triggered by Trump’s incursion into Venezuela as well as his intended acquisition of Greenland. Additionally, the recent killings carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which have resulted in nationwide protests against the agency, have contributed little to earning the public’s favor.

Donald Trump started 2025 with a positive net approval rating of 2, which even climbed up to 4 before March. However, things have only gone downhill for the second-time president since then, with ratings falling to -19, the lowest it has ever been in Trump’s current term, earlier this year. His approval scores for different issues have also taken a massive hit, with the public particularly showcasing their dissatisfaction with topics like inflation, the economy, and taxes.

Even states that usually vote for the Republican Party seem to have turned on the Trump administration. Out of the 50 states, only 11 hold a positive approval rating for Donald Trump at the time of writing, with Idaho leading the proceedings at 32.1% points. Meanwhile, the District of Columbia appears to be the most critical of the current president, holding a net approval score of -79.3% points.

Aside from the problematic foreign and immigration policies, the disparity in the topics that common people consider important and what Republicans are focusing on seems to be the primary cause of such a negative approval rating. For instance, taxes, government spending, and immigration have emerged as the key issues for Trump’s administration. On the contrary, recent statistics have proven that the general public cares more about the economy and civil rights.
