This week’s episode of The Masked Singer has revealed the identity of Calla Lily. The popular contestant was eliminated after a night of incredible performances of classic American hits.
What happened on The Masked Singer Season 14 Episode 5
The latest episode of The Masked Singer Season 14, “Red, White and Clue,” ended with the elimination of Calla Lily. Panelist Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg guessed the popular contestant’s identity right, revealing her to be Teddi Mellencamp.
Earlier, Mellencamp had delivered a stunning performance of “Jack and Diane,” the memorable hit from her father, John Mellencamp. Sadly, the television star ended her run on the show. The contestants who made it to the next rounds are High Voltage, Eggplant, Owl, and Pangolin.
Following her unmasking, Mellencamp shared that competing on The Masked Singer “got me out of a pretty dark place, and I am forever grateful.” She added, “I’m not a singer by trade, clearly, and so that part was challenging for me” (via Variety).
Previously, Mellencamp had publicly opened up about her Stage 4 cancer journey. “Also, a big part of my memory has been askew since my brain surgery,” the star added. “So I was a little bit nervous, but I was excited to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something new, and it felt like it gave me a little bit of life.”
Following her elimination, Mellencamp spoke with Entertainment Weekly, where she gave an update on her health. “In regards to my cancer journey right now, there’s no trace of cancer, but I am suffering,” the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared.
She added, “I’m going through a lot because of all the post-traumatic stress of everything that happened in the past year. I mean, it hasn’t even been a year since I went into the hospital and had surgery, and so I’m slowly but surely recovering, but it’s definitely the mental game has been way harder than the physical recovery.”
The Masked Singer Season 14 will return next week on February 11, with the episode “Twilight Night.”
