Donald Trump Calls Trevor Noah ‘Lightweight & Terrible’ After Grammys

President Donald Trump labeled comedian Trevor Noah a “lightweight” and “terrible” host following a joke made during the Grammy Awards. The barbed comments came as Trump reiterated threats of legal action over Noah’s on-stage comments linking him to Jeffrey Epstein.

The calling out stems from Trevor Noah’s hosting duties at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. During the ceremony, Noah made a quip that expectedly drew Trump’s ire. The joke happened when Billie Eilish won Song of the Year, as he said, “That’s a Grammy that every artist wants — almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense because, since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”

Shortly after the broadcast, Trump took to social media, calling Noah a “lightweight” and threatening a lawsuit. He doubled down on these threats the following day while speaking to reporters at the White House. The president vehemently denied any association, stating, “I have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein.”

When asked by a reporter if he would indeed sue Trevor Noah, Donald Trump confirmed his intentions. “Yeah, well he said that I spent time on Jeffrey Epstein’s island,” Trump said. “I didn’t.” He went on to critique Noah’s performance as host, calling it “lousy,” though he added it was “not as bad as Jimmy Kimmel.”

Moreover, in his defense, Trump pointed to the recent release of thousands of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case by the Justice Department. He claimed these files “absolve” him and instead implicate prominent Democrats. “The Democrats are pushing it,” Trump said about the Epstein news. “And the problem is it’s turning out to be the Democrats that were with — and conspired with — Epstein.”

The president concluded his remarks by marveling at his political resilience despite such opposition, stating, “They were working together to try and help me lose the election. But this is the Oval Office, so I guess that didn’t work out too well” (via Fox News).
