Barry Keoghan Unveils His Ringo Starr Moptop Ahead of Beatles Biopics

For the first time, actor Barry Keoghan makes a public appearance with a moptop haircut. The hairstyle is part of the look he will model to portray The Beatles’ drummer, Ringo Starr, in Sam Mendes’ ambitious four-film project.

While attending the premiere of his latest film, Crime 101, Keoghan stepped onto the red carpet sporting a moptop haircut. The Banshees of Inisherin actor is growing out his hair in preparation to portray Ringo Starr in the upcoming The Beatles biopic.

Barry Keoghan debuted the ’60s hairstyle while wearing a black-and-white MAINS leather jacket with green accents, paired with a white and green MAINS scarf.

In early 2025, Keoghan revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he had met the music icon at his home. He said, “I met him at his house, and he played the drums for me.” However, when Starr asked him to play, the Oscar-nominated actor refused, seemingly out of shyness.

When Kimmel asked if he was observing the musician to prepare for the role, the Eternals actor confirmed that he was. He admitted feeling nervous during the meeting and said he struggled to make eye contact. “I want to humanize and bring feelings to [the role]. Not just sort of imitate him.”

Director Sam Mendes is currently working on four biopics, each focused on one member of The Beatles. While the official names for all four films have yet to be announced, they are scheduled to arrive simultaneously in April 2028.

Titled “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,” the biopics boast an impressive cast. Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr.

The film also features Saoirse Ronan, James Norton, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce, among others, in prominent roles.
