Timothée Chalamet Just Made Oscar History: ‘What an Honor’

Timothée Chalamet is having a record-setting year at the Oscars. The actor has landed his third Best Actor nomination, becoming the youngest male performer ever to achieve that milestone. And now he has reacted to that.

Chalamet got his latest Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance as table tennis prodigy Marty Mauser in Josh Safdie’s sports dramedy Marty Supreme. With this nod, he becomes the youngest male actor to receive three acting nominations from the Academy.

Chalamet‘s Oscar earlier nominations include one for Call Me by Your Name (2017), which made him the third-youngest Best Actor nominee at age 22, and another for A Complete Unknown (2024). This year’s recognition places him in a rare group of performers who achieved repeated Oscar attention before turning 30.

Now, reacting to the nominations, Chalamet shared his appreciation for the recognition and the team behind the film. “It feels truly surreal to be nominated, what an honor! None of this would have been possible without the vision and big dream Josh had for all of us. This is my dream film, my dream era and dream characters and my heart is filled with so much gratitude.”

He also acknowledged the scale of the film’s success with the Academy. “Today feels like a BIG DREAM. What an exceptional honor from the Academy. Nine nominations for an original film is not something we take for granted. I’m overjoyed to be recognized as both an actor and a producer on this project.”

Chalamet enters a competitive Best Actor race alongside Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent). Marty Supreme also received nominations for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, among others.

Beyond acting, the actor is also nominated for Best Picture as a producer on Marty Supreme. At 30 years and 26 days old, he is now the youngest person ever to be nominated for both acting and producing in the same year.
