Court testimony in London has detailed how Barron Trump alerted police after witnessing what appeared to be a violent assault during a brief video call.

The story was presented at Snaresbrook Crown Court during the ongoing case against Matvei Rumiantsev, a 22-year-old Russian national accused of attacking his former girlfriend in January 2025. The woman, who cannot be publicly identified, told the court that she reached out to Barron while the alleged assault was happening.

At the time, Barron was 18 and living in the United States. Jurors heard that the FaceTime call lasted only 10 to 15 seconds before cutting out. However, Trump said he heard screaming and crying while seeing only part of the ceiling. He then phoned London police at 2:23 a.m., providing the woman’s address and urging immediate action.

“I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up,” he told the emergency operator, according to the recording played in court. He added, “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up.” During the same call, Trump explained that he had met the woman on social media. “She’s getting really badly beat up and the call was about eight minutes ago,” he said (via The Guardian).

Police body-camera footage shown to jurors captured officers arriving at the woman’s home and telling her that someone in the United States had alerted them. She identified Trump by name and, at officers’ request, called him back while they listened. Trump confirmed that he had asked for police help and explained that he believed directly confronting the alleged attacker could have escalated the situation. “I called you guys; that was the best thing I could do,” he said in the recording.

During cross-examination, the woman said,  “He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment.”
