Why Travis Kelce Thinks Fiancée Taylor Swift Will ‘Kill’ Him

Travis Kelce jokes that fiancée Taylor Swift will “kill” him for not understanding a reference to her song “Wood.” For those unversed, Swift dedicated her raunchiest song, “Wood,” to her fiancé Travis Kelce from her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Notably, the song is a sweet tribute to his podcast, New Heights, as well as his manhood.

Travis Kelce completely missed a fan reference to Taylor Swift’s song “Wood” and joked that his fiancée would “kill him” for this reason. As always, Jason and Travis Kelce were hosting the Wednesday, January 21, episode of their New Heights podcast. During the podcast, the Eagles star read out a fan comment about their merchandise that confused him.

Jason read, “I can’t believe none of the hoodies are called ‘New Heights of Man-Hoodie.’” Bewildered by the comment, he added, “I don’t know what the f*** that means, but she’s disappointed.”

Still confused, Jason asked rhetorically, “What’s that mean? What’s a ‘man-hoodie’? Is that a thing?” Producer Brandon Borders stepped in to explain to the Kelce brothers that it was a reference from The Life of a Showgirl. He said, “It’s a Life of a Showgirl reference, come on. ‘New Heights of manhood,’ it’s the time you were referenced in the album.”

The Chiefs tight end remarked, “I didn’t understand that. Taylor’s gonna kill me for not knowing that!” The older Kelce explained, saying, “We’re not as good with Easter eggs as these Swifties.” To which the 36-year-old Chiefs star added, “They sure know how to plant ’em and call ’em out.”

At the time of its release, “Wood”’s bold lyricism and the titillating nature took fans by surprise. Swift famously sang, “New Heights of manhood / I ain’t gotta knock on wood,” paying a tribute to her partner as well as his popular podcast.
