Mark Ruffalo Might Enter Politics in Future — Source

Mark Ruffalo is keeping the door open when it comes to a possible future in politics. The actor, widely recognized for his activism off-screen, recently suggested that while running for office is not a current priority, it is not something he has ruled out entirely.

Mark Ruffalo might be eyeing politics in near future

The Avengers actor addressed speculation about his political future while attending the All the President’s Men benefit reading for the Stella Adler Foundation on January 9. Ruffalo spoke to Us Weekly that while running for office is not currently a goal, he is not closing the door on the idea either.

“It isn’t on my game card right now, but who knows. I mean, you never say never,” Ruffalo said. He framed the idea of public service as an extension of his values rather than a career pivot, adding, “I mean, I spent a lot of time in that world, and acting — it’s for the people. So, I love the people, and politicians could be doing something good for the people.”

Ruffalo also pointed to recent political developments that have left him feeling more optimistic about what leadership in the United States could look like. He specifically referenced New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who was sworn into office on January 1 after running as a Democratic Socialist. Mamdani made history by becoming the first major U.S. politician to take an oath of office on a Quran.

“Seeing Mamdani’s win in New York has really excited me about what’s possible in the United States right now,” Ruffalo said. He followed that sentiment by pushing back against familiar arguments that systemic change is unrealistic because of time or cost. “It’s bulls***,” Ruffalo continued. “And the people in America are suffering. If the people in America weren’t suffering, we wouldn’t be where we are right now.”

All in all, while speculation about a future run for politics continues, Ruffalo has offered no concrete plans.
