Justin Baldoni is fighting back against the latest move by Blake Lively in their ongoing legal case that began with “It Ends with Us.” Sources claim that Lively asked the court to redact the names of well-known people connected to the dispute, including her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her allegedly former close friend, Taylor Swift. As per sources, the request aims to keep certain identities out of the public eye.

The Daily Mail reported that Justin Baldoni’s lawyers do not agree with the latest developments by Blake Lively in the case. The outlet reviewed a filing dated Monday and reported that the filmmaker’s legal team objected, arguing that Lively has not met the bar for sealing information right now. They reportedly wrote, “Not one of [Lively’s] requests meets the [court’s] high standard for sealing at this stage.”
Moreover, the filing takes issue with how the “Gossip Girl” star described Ryan Reynolds, referring to him as “an innocent third-party.” But, according to the court papers, Baldoni’s team allegedly responded sharply. In that, they called the idea that Reynolds’ communications should stay sealed “overly-restrictive and absurd.”
The “It Ends with Us” director’s attorneys further pointed to what they claimed was Reynolds’ involvement behind the scenes, including claims that he rewrote a scene and played a role in a tense exchange between the two.
Lively and Baldoni’s legal case has dragged on for more than a year. The latter has reportedly denied wrongdoing, later launching major legal action of his own, but a federal judge dismissed his defamation-related case in June 2025. On the other hand, Lively’s lawsuit continues.
The case will return to court for a hearing on January 22, with a trial date currently set for May 18. However, as of now, both sides appear to be battling not only over what happened on set but also over which famous names get dragged into the spotlight as the fight escalates.
