Jessica Simpson recently addressed rumors about joining The Bachelorette, following her split from Eric Johnson. The singer, balancing life as a single mom of three, suggested she’s confident in her dating options and isn’t looking for Hollywood’s help to find a partner.
What Jessica Simpson said about appearing on The Bachelorette
Jessica Simpson recently shut down rumors about joining ABC’s hit dating show, The Bachelorette, telling TMZ, “I have options, I’m good.” When the reporter said she would be good for the show’s ratings, she added, “No, I don’t care about that.” Since splitting from Johnson in January 2025, it seems Simpson has been focused on her three kids, Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 13, Ace Knute, 12, and Birdie Mae, 6.
Last year, she spoke to TMZ about her split, explaining that she and Johnson had been living apart while dealing with a difficult period in their marriage. She stressed that their children are the top priority and that they’re focusing on what’s best for them. Simpson also expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received and asked for privacy as they navigate this challenging time as a family.
It appears the singer has been embracing this chapter of her life as a period for independence and self-discovery. In October 2025, while talking to PEOPLE around the time of her Mystic Canyon fragrance launch, she said, “It was really about coming home to myself, being proud of that person, coming from a place of being just very honest and very vulnerable.”
The singer seems to be owning her dating life. In a chat with Extra last year, Simpson admitted she’s been drawn to younger guys, loving the confidence that comes from dating as a more experienced woman. “I think I’m into younger men at the moment, ” Simpson said. She continued, “When you’re newly separated… I feel like younger guys kinda like the confidence of an older woman, I’m discovering, I’m having fun!”
