Elon Musk Seeks Full Custody of Son After Ex’s Transgender Comments

Elon Musk says he is filing for full custody of the young son he shares with influencer and author Ashley St. Clair, following her recent public apology and shift in views regarding the transgender community.

In a post shared on X on January 12, Musk said he plans to pursue full custody after St. Clair addressed and apologized for her past transphobic remarks. He claimed her statements raised concerns about their child’s well-being, prompting his legal move.

This announcement was made while replying to another user who suggested he seek custody after St. Clair publicly expressed support for the transgender community. “I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy,” Musk wrote on X.

However, based on St. Clair’s public posts, it remains unclear whether she ever suggested such an action. Instead, she used the platform to apologize for past comments and explain her evolving views. St. Clair responded over the weekend to a user who criticized her for “blatant transphobia” in earlier remarks.

“I feel immense guilt for my role. And even more guilt that things I have said in the past may have caused my son’s sister more pain,” she wrote, appearing to reference Musk’s transgender daughter, Vivian. “Idrk how to make amends for many of these things but I have been trying incredibly hard privately to learn + advocate for those within the trans community that I’ve hurt,” she added. “Even this reply will become right wing hysteria but yeah I am sorry. Let me know how I can help.”

Now, the custody dispute follows a complicated public history between the two. St. Clair revealed in 2024 that she welcomed a son with Elon Musk in September, later confirming the child’s name as Romulus. She has since said she is suing for sole custody. In March, Musk denied claims that he financially retaliated against the child, stating on X that he had provided support. St. Clair disputed that account, saying he refused a paternity test and reduced support to exert control.
