During her Golden Globes acceptance speech, Rose Byrne revealed why her partner, Bobby Cannavale, was absent from the ceremony. The actor shared that her brother George was her date for the night, which left many wondering about Cannavale’s absence. Addressing the moment, the Platonic star said, “I want to thank my husband, Bobby, who couldn’t be here because we’re getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey.” She then added, “So, thank you. Thank you, baby.”

The 46-year-old also spoke about how surprised she was by her win and by her film earning a nomination. She said, “Of course, I didn’t prepare anything. I didn’t sing in this movie.” Byrne added, “This is such a shock! Thank you so much.” She also praised If I Had Legs I’d Kick You writer-director Mary Bronstein.

“I share this with Mary Bronstein, my writer and director,” Byrne said. “She wrote this unbelievable screenplay, and she wanted me to do it. I can’t believe that you wanted me to do it.” She also revealed, “We shot this movie in 25 days for, like, $8.50.” Byrne added, “This is a tiny film, so this is a huge thing to be up here.”

Recently, Byrne also spoke about embracing the role of Linda in an interview with W Magazine. She said, “There’s humor, there’s horror, there’s fear, there’s gut-wrenching, raw trauma.” Byrne noted, “It’s about running from yourself. It’s the biggest demon we have.” Speaking about preparing for the role, the actor said, “I had a huge creative task, but it was also a great opportunity.” She added, “My adrenaline was so high while shooting the film.”
