Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Spill Secret to Their 40-Year Unshakable Bond

There is no denying that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon share a solid friendship and brotherhood. Notably, Affleck and Damon will be headlining Netflix’s action-thriller film The Rip. The Good Will Hunting stars discussed their 40-year unshakable bond in a new interview.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon reveal the key to their decades-long friendship

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon disclosed the key to their long-lasting bond and friendship. Netflix shared a wholesome video with the caption, “Here’s Ben Affleck and Matt Damon talking about being best friends and lifelong coworkers for nearly seven minutes.”

Damon read out the question, “What was our friendship like in our Good Will Hunting era versus now?” Before Affleck could answer, Damon remarked, “Much stronger,” as the pair chuckled together. Affleck proceeded to reply, “Anchored, real, authentic.” He then asked rhetorically, “Why?”

The Martin star proceeded to ask, “What’s the key to making a friendship last for more than 40 years?” The pair chuckled as if they were resisting sharing an internal joke. Damon dished, “We were both obsessed with this thing from an early age, which definitely kind of linked us up. It’s kind of a weird thing in retrospect, ’cause we came from a city where there wasn’t a thing.”

Affleck quipped, “Yeah. There wasn’t even an option. I guess we were just weird.” Damon completed, “Just f***ing weird kids.” The Gone Girl star added, “Presumptuous and nerdy and kind of out of it.” He continued, “The shared interest, like finding the job you like to do and that you do with your friends, is like a really nice thing, because you spend so much time at work.”

Damon continued to read out the questions. He read, “We used to share a bank account. Should all best friends share bank accounts?” Affleck replied, “We just did it.” However, Damon interjected, declaring, “There wasn’t a lot of money in the account. If one of us had run off with the money…” The Deep Water star completed, “It would’ve made for a big fraud investigation.” “Who took the 11 dollars?” he quipped rhetorically, making Damon laugh.

Interestingly, the duo has produced the film under their production company, Artists Equity. The Rip releases on Netflix on January 16 and stars Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, and Sasha Calle in pivotal roles.
