Jodie Foster recently shared her chilling experience of a lion attack while on set, which gave her several scars. The actor-filmmaker sat for an exclusive new interview with W Magazine.
During the interview, when the question, “Do you have any good scars?” arrived, the actor went on to open up about this particular terrifying lion attack she faced. She further talked about how she went back to work with the same lion that attacked her.
Jodie Foster was left with perfect punctures after lion attack
Jodie Foster revealed that she had “perfect punctures” after a lion attacked her on a film set. While talking about her scars in a new W Magazine interview, the actor-filmmaker disclosed, “I have many scars. I was mauled by a lion when I was eight and a half or nine.” She continued, “The lion picked me up, shook me around, moved me horizontally, and then dropped me.”
After that, Jodie Foster shared, “I had two perfect punctures in one side and then two perfect punctures on the other on my hip.” The actor admitted, “I was in shock. So, I don’t really remember that much.” She continued, “I remember the event. I saw his mane come forward, and I had worked with lions.” She further explained, “But when he picked me up…and then moved me sideways and shook me around.”
Jodie Foster then added, “And so as he turned me back towards the whole camera crew, I saw the whole camera crew run, except sideways.” She continued, “So I saw them running sideways, taking all of their equipment with them, just like running away from me.” After that, she revealed, “And then I guess the trainer said, ‘Drop it,’ and then the lion dropped me out of his mouth.”
The actor also admitted, “I think that was probably the scariest thing that ever happened to me when I was making a movie.” She further disclosed, “I’m not sure I had time for fear, honestly.” “After I got out of the hospital…I went back to work with the same lion,” she added.
