Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Hurtful’ Regret Over Chadwick Boseman’s Death

Michael B. Jordan got candid about the impact of Chadwick Boseman’s passing on him in a new interview. He garnered immense praise for his performance as the twins, Smoke and Stack, in Ryan Coogler’s 2025 period horror film, “Sinners.” In the interview, he discussed how the movie pushed him out of his comfort zone and opened up about his biggest regret about Boseman’s death.

During his interview on CBS’s Sunday Morning, host Tracy Smith asked Michael B. Jordan about a comment “Sinners” director Ryan Coogler had made about how Boseman’s passing affected Jordan. Coogler had said that the star’s death “messed everybody up,” but Jordan might have had the hardest time.

The question had clearly shaken up the “Creed” star, who took a moment to compose himself. Then, he replied, “I mean, I don’t know… yeah. Chad’s a very special person. I just wish I had more time with him. I think that’s the hurtful thing.”

Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan famously co-starred in the MCU movie, “Black Panther,” as T’Challa and  Erik Killmonger, respectively. Not only did the movie catapult them to global stardom, but it also forged a lasting friendship between the two actors. Boseman passed away in 2020 at the age of 43, leaving behind his dear friends and family.

Elsewhere, in the interview, Jordan recalled how Boseman’s dedication to his work inspired him even after his passing. The 38-year-old revealed that maintaining a Southern accent for “Sinners” was challenging. So, early on during the production, Coogler posed a simple question to help his lead actor lock in. He asked Jordan, “What would Chad do in this situation?”

The “Fantastic Four” actor said there was nothing he needed to hear after Coogler asked him that question. He recounted how Boseman never lost his accent while working on “Black Panther,” saying, “When Chadwick was playing T’Challa, he never broke. Always kept his accent, at home, on set, everywhere. He always had it.”
