Diddy Still Wants To Sue 50 Cent for Netflix Docuseries

Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly evaluating potential legal action over the recent Netflix docuseries series Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Representatives for the Bad Boy Records founder have indicated that his legal team is actively reviewing options related to the project.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is weighing possible legal action against Netflix and rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson over the recently released docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

A spokesperson for Combs recently confirmed to Deadline that his legal team is reviewing its options in response to the series. This is particularly regarding the use of behind-the-scenes footage that the Bad Boy Records founder alleges was obtained illegally. They said, “Sean Combs and his team are still pondering their legal options over the Netflix docuseries and the stolen footage.”

The music mogul is currently incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, after being convicted earlier this year on two counts related to transportation for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges in July.

Tensions surrounding The Reckoning surfaced even before its release. On December 1, Combs’ attorneys issued a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix, calling the documentary a “shameful hit piece.” They also objected to footage showing Combs in a New York hotel room speaking with members of his legal team days before his September 2024 arrest.

Netflix has firmly rejected those claims, noting, “The footage of Combs leading up to his indictment and arrest were legally obtained. This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution.” Netflix also emphasized that Cent is credited as an executive producer, but he did not exercise creative control over the project.

The series, directed by Alexandria Stapleton, examines Combs’ career alongside allegations and events leading up to his arrest.
