Talk show host Stephen Colbert recently answered a question about who he would switch bodies with in a podcast appearance, picking President Donald Trump for the honor. Colbert revealed his plans for his frequent critic and called the pick “predictable.”
Stephen Colbert gives a reason to switch bodies with Donald Trump
Stephen Colbert, who has frequently criticized and been criticized by Donald Trump, answered a question about whose body he would like to slip into for 24 hours during an appearance at a 20th anniversary event for Slate’s Political Gabfest.
It did not take long for the veteran talk show host to say Donald Trump. “It’s such a predictable answer for me, but I would slip inside the skin of our president,” he said. He added why it was predictable, saying the first thing he would do as Trump. “I would resign,” Colbert said.
“No scandal, no confession,” he said, “Just go, ‘It’s been great. I’m the best ever. I’m going to go out on top. It can be a glorious ending.’ Just end it.” As an afterthought to this, Colbert asked, “I have a harrowing follow-up question: Is he taking over my body for 24 hours?”
Host John Dickerson heard the reply and said that he did think Colbert would answer Donald Trump in this scenario.
Donald Trump has time and again singled out Stephen Colbert for his stance on politics. Most famously, Trump celebrated Colbert’s show getting canceled. The President wrote about the cancellation on Truth Social, “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
Colbert did not take the criticism quietly and hit back at Trump in the following episode.
Moreover, Donald Trump has frequently clashed with other late-night talk show hosts.
