Brad Pitt reportedly pushed back against new accusations that have emerged in his long‑running court battle over Chateau Miraval with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, asking a judge to throw out claims that he used the winery’s money for personal projects. According to sources, Pitt filed new documents on December 22, outlining why he believes the embezzlement allegations should not move forward.
Brad Pitt’s lawyer calls embezzlement claims ‘nonsensical’ amid court battle with ex-wife
Us Weekly exclusively reported the latest development in his winery court battle with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. The filing reportedly addressed claims that he spent Miraval funds on what the lawsuit called “vanity projects,” including about $8 million for a home on the property and a swimming pool.
Pitt said he did not hide any of those expenses and that he disclosed everything Miraval paid for. Moreover, he responded to a message he once sent about not sharing certain reports with Jolie, explaining, “The message is framed as a personal view or observation, not an instruction,” adding that it showed “no intent to advance or facilitate any unlawful conduct.”
His lawyer followed that with a firm statement, saying, “Nor does the message indicate any attempt or intent by [Pitt] to conceal stolen property from Jolie. Such a claim is nonsensical, given the public nature of the music studio and its association with [Miraval].” Furthermore, Pitt argued that the case belongs in France, since the business and the spending in question all took place there. He wants the California court to dismiss the claims entirely.
The dispute goes back to Miraval’s purchase in 2008 and the couple’s attempt to sort out their business dealings after their split. Jolie eventually sold her shares to Stoli, which later filed its own countersuit, accusing Pitt of diverting company profits and claiming that Miraval made around $15 million in 2022, while shareholders never saw distributions.
The company added that Jolie had loaned Miraval $20 million for upgrades and grew concerned about spending she described as questionable. A source told Us Weekly, “It’s not surprising that after another favorable decision for Brad, these parties would proceed with another frivolous filing.”
