The publicist who worked for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, has reportedly quit over the Kardashian drama. Chief Communications Officer Meredith Maines announced her departure, leaving fans wondering about the reason.

According to a source, the chaos that came after the Sussexes attended Kris Jenner’s birthday was allegedly the “final straw” for the publicist.

Source reveals reason behind Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s publicist resigning

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s publicist, Meredith Maines, has reportedly stepped down from her duty. A source told Page Six that her departure was allegedly the result of the drama that unfolded after Kris Jenner’s birthday party. For those unversed, Jeff Bezos hosted Kris Jenner’s birthday bash last month, inviting A-list guests from the entertainment and business world.

Prince Harry and his wife attended the party. Jenner and her daughter shared several photos from the Bond-themed evening on social media. A few snaps included the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which were later taken down. Reports claimed that the couple asked Kim Kardashian to take down the pictures.

Meanwhile, the reality TV star’s team allegedly mentioned that the Sussexes signed a consent form. Other sources later denied this. However, the fire settled down after a few weeks. Maines seemed to be affected as the insider claimed that the drama was the “last straw” for her.

Another report by the outlet stated that the CCO worked for around 10 months under the Sussexes. Her departure was announced on Friday, revealing that she would work through the new year to make the transition easy. She’s reportedly the 11th publicist to leave within five years.

“After a year of inspiring work with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Archewell, I will be pursuing a new opportunity in 2026. I have the utmost gratitude and respect for the couple and the team, and the good they are doing in the world,” Maines said in a statement.
