A new rumor suggests that Doctor Doom will pretend to be a hero for much of Avengers: Doomsday before his inevitable betrayal.
This rumor comes from notable scooper MyTimetoShineHello, who wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “The difference between Doomsday and the other Avengers films is that Doom is on the heroes’ side for much of it.”
They continued, “Obviously, he’s only pretending – big surprise! But that does make it a bit different from the other films.”
It’s important to note that this is only a rumor as of writing. However, if this rumor turns out to be true, it would mark a major shift in the storytelling of the Avengers franchise. Previous Avengers films have seen villains go up against the heroes from the start to the end, without allying or pretending to ally with them.
Notably, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver served as antagonists to the Avengers for the better part of the film, having allied with Ultron due to their shared hatred of Tony Stark.
