Mean Girls star Rachel McAdams recently appeared in a video in which she seemed to audition for Survivor, raising eyebrows across the internet. The awkward lo-fi video seemed to be an audition tape of sorts, but there is much more to this tale.
Will Rachel McAdams appear in Survivor 50 as a contestant?
No, Rachel McAdams will not appear in Survivor 50 as a contestant, despite the audition tape that was released online. While fans can look at the tape at a glance and think that it is indeed an audition tape from the actress, it is, instead, a clever promo for her upcoming film, Send Help.
As many would notice, the video was uploaded to 20th Century Fox’s official YouTube channel. The video also ends with a small watermark of 20th Century Fox. This is enough to hint that this audition tape is not related to CBS.
Instead, this is a promotion for Rachel McAdams’s upcoming film, Send Help, where she stars alongside Dylan O’Brien. The film is helmed by Sam Raimi in his first foray into horror in years.
The film follows a bookish businesswoman stuck in a workplace conflict with her younger boss before they both end up on an island after surviving a plane crash. This bit about the plot resembles Survivor, effectively drawing a link that McAdams used to promote it.
“I wanna be the next Survivor!” she says in the video, “I love to read, but I’m crazy about the outdoors, too. I can do bushcrafts with my eyes closed. When I get knocked down, I get right back up. I work in strategy and planning, so you know I’ll always be at least 10 steps ahead. When the going gets tough, I get going. People like me because I stay positive. I’ve been underestimated my whole life.”
This could be an apt description of her character in the upcoming film.
The trailer for Send Help also sees McAdams try out her survival skills on a deserted island.
