Amy Schumer Shares Honest Take on Family Amid Separation

Amy Schumer didn’t hold back when she spoke about what life has been like since announcing her separation from Chris Fischer. Schumer spent the last night of Hanukkah with Noa Tishby and appeared in Tishby’s Instagram video, where she opened up about the split.

The candid chat suggested that, as the comedian settles into this new phase of life, she is relying on the people close to her while trying to keep things grounded and honest.

In the video, Amy Schumer said that her family has a way of lifting her up even in the hardest moments, including her separation from her ex-husband. She stated, “When things are the absolute worst is when my family is the funniest,” adding, “Just when we hit rock bottom is when we can laugh the hardest. And I think that that’s not unique to me. I think that’s a Jewish characteristic.”

Moreover, Schumer spoke about why Hanukkah means so much to her, saying, “I love Hanukkah. I was always really excited about it. Every time we light the candles, I feel like we’ve won.”

Later that night, Schumer posted a quote by Hannah Rosenberg on her Instagram Story about the strength of female friendships, talking about women who show up for each other, through good and bad. She called those relationships “a marriage without a wedding.” The quote ended with, “If you have these women, remember: the soulmate is a wonderful thought but look how beautiful these love stories are.”

Earlier this month, Schumer confirmed that she and Fischer were ending their marriage. She kept the announcement brief: “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” saying that they “love each other very much” and are focusing on raising their son, Gene.

A source previously told Page Six that the couple had been dealing with problems for a long time. The insider said, “There is zero chance of salvaging the marriage,” adding that Schumer wants the co‑parenting to stay as smooth as possible.
