A stray firework infiltrated the field during the Ravens vs. Patriots NFL game. It almost struck a person walking near the end zone. It caused momentary panic as fans inside the stadium gasped in horror while watching the rogue firework crash into the ground.
According to TMZ, the stray firework came very close to striking someone walking towards the end zone. Fortunately, no one was injured. The stadium staff handled the situation, and in no time, the game resumed as if nothing had ever happened. Fans on the internet made light of the situation and shared their hilarious takes on it.
One fan joked, “Live representation of how the Ravens’ season has gone.” A second fan commented, “That firework had no boundaries.” A third fan exclaimed, “Holy smokes!” A fourth fan quipped, “That firework almost turned pregame entertainment into a workplace safety seminar real quick.”
One of the attendees, Jared Ramirez, commented, “It shot right over my head. I saw it almost hit somebody, too.” Continuing further, he said, “It actually didn’t even process to me at the time that, like, ‘Oh my god, there’s somebody on the field right there. What if it had totally struck them?’” (via CBS News).
Team officials revealed in a statement, “The safety of everyone at our stadium on gameday is our absolute top priority. There was one mechanical malfunction during our pregame pyrotechnic show that led to a device landing on the field. No injuries were reported. We are coordinating with our pyrotechnic vendor to fully understand what occurred and to ensure it does not happen again.”
Unfortunately for the home crowd supporting the Ravens, they lost to the New England Patriots after the visitors made a fourth-quarter comeback. The Patriots confirmed a place in the playoffs with this win.
