Lily Allen recently made a confession about how she has been in therapy for her addiction to shopping and being unable to stop spending money. In the latest episode of her “Miss Me?” she told her co-host, Miquita Oliver, and listeners, “I actually did EMDR therapy yesterday on my spending.” The singer continued, “And how it’s related to my sense of self-worth and we tried to separate the two.” She added, “So let’s see how that goes.”
In the meantime, Lily Allen further revealed on the podcast episode, “I think I try and get rid of it (money) because I don’t think I deserve it.” After that, her co-host, Miquita Oliver, asked her, “What is EMDR again?” In response, the artist tried to explain how the therapy works. She said, “EMDR therapy is a special type of therapy.” The singer continued, “There’s like, what do you call it?” She then added, “Like stimuli that stimulate the left side and the right side of your brain.”
Lily Allen then explained, “And basically try and create new pathways in relation to certain behaviours or traumatic experiences or traumatic interactions with certain human beings or anything really.” The singer further disclosed, “I started doing EMDR about four months ago, five months ago.” She continued, “It’s like been life changing. I just absolutely love it.” The artist then said, “I am not a doctor and I am not qualified to give that kind of advice.” “But this is what is working for me currently,” the singer added.
