News of their casting comes a week after Deadline reported that Harry Potter star Helena Bonham Carter was in talks for a starring role in the fourth installment.
Ludwig is best known for his starring roles as Björn Ironside in Vikings and Ace Spade in Starz’s Heels. He has also appeared in films like Bad Boys for Life, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant. Meanwhile, AJ Michalka, known for her music work with her sister Aly, has appeared in films like The Lovely Bones, Super 8, and Secretariat.
Both Michalka and Ludwig have addressed their casting on Instagram. The former wrote, “Checking In! Let’s party, Mike.” Meanwhile, the latter stated, “Beyond honored. Huge thank you to Mike for your trust in me, and can’t wait to bring this unbelievable material to life.”
