Fans reacted to a clip of LeBron James‘ post-match locker room interview posted online by a user on X. During the interview, James opens up about his thoughts on playing his NBA-record 20th Christmas Day game. As the interviewer asks the Lakers power forward why Christmas basketball is still so important to him, James responds, “Still important to me?” The interviewer then reframes his question, asking,” Why does it matter?” This time James smiles and says, “Yeah okay, that’s a better question.”
Answering the question, he then said, “I’d much rather be at home with my family. But I mean, it’s the game, it’s the game that I love. It’s a game I watched when I was a kid on Christmas Day, watching a lot of the greatest play the game on Christmas. It’s always been an honor to play it.” However, further revealing an alternative way of how he would like to spend the day, he shared, “Obviously, I’m gonna be completely honest, I would like to be home on the couch with my family all throughout the day. But our number is called, so we have to go out and perform and I look forward to that.
The Los Angeles Lakers will go against Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets for this Christmas Day match-up. James leads the Christmas Day leaderboard, having scored 507 career points during December 25th games, just above Kobe Bryant in second place, with a difference of 112 points between the two NBA legends.
