Dakota Johnson and her ex, Chris Martin, are in the news once again. According to a source, the Coldplay vocalist is allegedly still “hung up on” his former girlfriend. However, the “Materialists” actor did not give in this time and reportedly wants to “break the toxic cycle.” For those unversed, the duo was said to have parted ways in June this year. They have been in an on-and-off relationship since 2017.

Chris Martin ‘tried several times to lure’ Dakota Johnson back, per source

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin’s breakup reportedly happened over the summer. Since then, the 36-year-old actor has seemingly made it evident that she would like to move on. Reports suggest that Martin didn’t feel the same way. A source told RadarOnline that he has “still been hung up on her.” “He tried several times to lure Dakota back, but she was determined to break the toxic cycle, they added.”

Although the real reason behind their split has been unknown, the report hinted at their different viewpoints on marriage. As per the insider, Martin was unsure about the next step. “[He] kept dangling that carrot and never following through,” they claimed.

Moreover, the “Viva La Vida” hitmaker has reportedly been trying to “move on.” He had been rumored to be dating Sophie Turner, with the speculations sparked at the end of October. “But there’s a real sadness when he speaks about Dakota. He has a lot of regret,” the source shared.

Martin has been previously married to Gwyneth Paltrow and shares two kids — daughter Apple and son Moses. Earlier, a report suggested that the “Iron Man” star and Johnson allegedly shared a close bond. However, the latter’s split with the Coldplay frontman has reportedly affected their friendship.

With the songwriter out of the picture, the two ladies allegedly have “no reason to keep the same connection.” “It’s not a feud. It’s just…faded,” a source claimed.
