Russell Brand has called out his ex-wife Katy Perry’s current relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The English comedian and actor made the scathing remark during a recent public appearance.

Russell Brand calls out Katy Perry’s relationship

Russell Brand has recently taken a jab at Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s ongoing romance while speaking at the Turning Point USA event in Phoenix.

“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her,” began Brand. “I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,” he added.

Brand first met Perry in 2009 on the set of Get Him to the Greek, and tied the knot one year later. The marriage lasted only a year, with Brand filing for a divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Following her split from Brand, Perry began a relationship with Orlando Bloom and got engaged in 2019. However, the couple called it quits in June 2025, after nine years of the relationship.

In July 2025, Perry sparked dating rumors with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when fans spotted the couple enjoying a date in Montreal. The pair made their first public appearance in October 2025, when they exited the Crazy Horse Paris while holding hands.

Meanwhile, Russell Brand is facing charges of five counts of assault and rape, after four women accused him of sexual misconduct in 2023. Channel 4’s Dispatches collaborated with The Sunday Times and The Times to further investigate the allegations.

Brand has denied the charges, saying, “I’m now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court and I’m incredibly grateful for that.” He has since pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial, which is scheduled in June 2026.
