Rachael Carpani, an Australian actress, has died at the age of 45. A family member broke the news about her tragic death in a statement, noting that the actress “unexpectedly but peacefully passed away.”

On Sunday, December 7, Rachael Carpani, most popularly known for her role in McLeod’s Daughters, died after battling a “chronic illness.” Georgia Carpani, her sister, made the heartbreaking announcement on Instagram.
Georgia wrote, “It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday, 7th December.”
She added, “The funeral will be a private event, to be held on Friday, 19th December, with close family and friends. The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.”
Currently, details about her illness have not been made public.
Carpani famously portrayed Jodi Fountain in the Australian television series McLeod’s Daughters. She was one of the cast members who was in all eight seasons of the show, appearing in 179 episodes. Her fame later brought her to the US. Her breakthrough came when she made an appearance in shows like NCIS: Los Angeles and Home and Away. Some of her notable projects also include The Glades, The Rachels, 800 Words, The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee, and Beat.
Following the announcement, Rachel’s former co-star, Bridie Carter, also posted an emotional tribute. She reposted the announcement with a heartfelt message. She wrote, “This is the most difficult post. In love and respect, for our beautiful Rach, in prayer and with the deepest sorrow and profound sympathy for the Carpani family. Rest In Peace, our beautiful girl….the “baby” of our MD family. We love you, we cherish you.”
She ended the post saying, “May your blessed spirit, so vivid, so full of life, laughter, joy, generosity, unique talent, energy, fervor, intelligence, resilience, courage, and great humor, and a gentle humility, may you rest in peace.”
