Radio host Howard Stern opened up about his future with SiriusXM. This comes after weeks of speculation that he’s leaving the broadcaster after his current contract expires at the end of this year.
Howard Stern announces new SiriusXM contract
Howard Stern recently revealed his plans with SiriusXM after his current contract expires in 2025 on the latest episode of The Howard Stern Show. “I’m happy to announce that I’ve figured out a way to have it all,” the radio host revealed, referring to more free time and continuing to be on the radio. “So, yes, we’re coming back for three years,” he added.
Stern continued, “So, the announcement is that we’re going to be partnering with SiriusXM and continue to entertain for the next three years.”
He went on to thank his colleagues, while longtime producer Gary Dell’Abate revealed that the news garnered “immediate applause” from the staff. “That’s the announcement. We’re back. Three more years with SiriusXM. And I’m excited about it because you know what? I do still love radio,” Stern expressed.
The veteran host is most popularly known for his The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM. However, it first gained popularity during its national syndication on terrestrial radio, primarily from WXRK in New York City between 1985 and 2005.
Stern signed his current five-year deal in 2020. Earlier this year, rumors circulated that he might ultimately retire from hosting after having a successful and long-standing career. It further intensified after Bravo host Andy Cohen temporarily took over Stern’s radio show in September.
However, the brief takeover turned out to be an elaborate prank that Stern admitted to organizing. He later explained that it was his way of silencing the rumors about SiriusXM firing him. He said, “Everything you’ve been reading in the paper about me, about Robin [Quivers], is completely false.”
Details about his new contract have yet to be revealed.
