Travis Kelce Pitches an NFL Comeback to Brother Jason

Travis Kelce seems to be convincing Jason Kelce to come out of his retirement in the new promo of their New Heights podcast. For those unversed, Jason spent 13 years as a professional football center with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles alum hung up his boots on March 4 last year.

Travis Kelce tries to convince Jason Kelce to unretire

It appears Travis Kelce wants his brother Jason Kelce to return to the NFL. Recently, Philip Rivers, football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, returned to the NFL after retiring in January 2021. The Kelce brothers discussed Rivers coming back from retirement. In the recent New Heights promo, Travis then cheekily suggested that he knows another player who could follow in Rivers’ footsteps and come out of his retirement as well.

Travis asks, “What other retired player should get out there?” The camera zooms in on Travis as he widens his eyes with gleeful excitement. Jason, who does not notice Travis’ expression, replies, “I was thinking about this. Who else would be like.” Travis interjects and replies, “I mean, I know a guy still trying to prove his athleticism and trying to dunk.”

To this, the Eagles alum responds, “Travis, I can’t bend my elbow right now. I got a loose body. I can’t even touch my head right now coz I have got a loose body stuck in my f***ing elbow joint.” The Chiefs tight end then remarks, “Well, go and get that s**t cleaned, Jason.” “Well that’s,” Jason stutters, “I’m trying to avoid surgery, Travis.”

The 36-year-old NFL star replies, “Then we got to get some rehab going. Are we not rehabbing?” Jason mock retorts, “There’s not a rehab, there’s a piece of cartilage that’s floating around in there. It’s stuck in my joint.” To which Travis reiterates his previous point.

However, Jason explains, “Usually I can find it and then push it out of the joint, and it goes back to being fine. I can’t do it right now, it’s stuck somewhere. I don’t know if it’s in the back or in the front. But it isn’t leaving.” Travis’ tone softens a bit, and he replies, “Well, go and get an MRI.” But Jason puts his foot down and categorically announces that he is not coming out of his retirement.

Recently, Jason also weighed in on Travis’ NFL future after the Chiefs lost 13–16 against the Chargers in Sunday’s match, putting an end to their playoff hopes.

The interviewers asked the Eagles alum about his brother’s retirement plans. The 38-year-old replied, “Well, I’m curious too. In my opinion, to nail that decision, you gotta step away from the game for a little bit. It’s too fresh.”
