Tracy Reiner, daughter of veteran filmmaker Rob Reiner, has addressed the deaths of her father and stepmother, Michele Singer Reiner. Investigating authorities have shared some information about the incident and the suspect they subsequently arrested.

On Sunday, December 14, Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were both found dead at their home in Brentwood, California. Tracy Reiner, a daughter whom Rob Reiner adopted with his late wife, Penny Marshall, has since responded to the tragic news (via NBC News).
“I came from the greatest family ever,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
A family member later confirmed the news of Rob and Michele’s deaths in a press statement. It read, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time” (via Variety).
On Monday, an LAPD officer shared details about the incident in a press conference. The officer revealed that the LAPD received a call around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, the officers found “two deceased adults,” who the coroner’s office later confirmed to be Rob and Michele Reiner (via BBC News).
The officer also said that the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is investigating the case, adding that it has now taken Nick Reiner, Rob’s son, into custody and that he has been “booked for murder.” Further details about the investigation have yet to be revealed.
Rob Reiner initially gained fame as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the 1970s sitcom All in the Family, earning two Emmy Awards for the role. After the show, he gradually transitioned into the role of a director, making widely beloved films like This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, and The Princess Bride, among others.
He also co-founded Castle Rock Entertainment. The company produced projects like Seinfeld, Before Sunset, The Shawshank Redemption, The Polar Express, and The Green Mile.
