Jason Kelce weighed in on brother Travis Kelce’s NFL future after the Chiefs’ playoff exit. The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday but lost 13–16, putting an end to their playoff hopes. It also fuelled intense speculation about 36-year-old Kelce’s impending retirement.

Jason Kelce discusses the chatter around Travis Kelce’s potential retirement after the Chiefs’ loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. The interviewers asked Jason, “Is there a sense of how he (Travis) will approach that (retirement)?”
Jason Kelce has been through the rigmarole of retirement himself when he retired from the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2024. He replied, “Well, I’m curious too. In my opinion, to nail that decision, you gotta step away from the game for a little bit. It’s too fresh.”
The 38-year-old continued, “Play these last few games. Enjoy with your teammates, enjoy with your coaches. The team’s going to be different no matter whether you come back or not next year. So enjoy these last three games and then let it sink in. It will come to you with time. There are so many emotions right after a season, especially with the way this one has been. It’s been so up and down; they have been close.”
Furthermore, the former Eagles star remarked, “Right now, it’s too fresh. You got to step away from the game. You got to think about it, and yeah, it will come to you.”
Last month, Kelce confirmed he will wait until the end of the season before making a final decision.
The Chiefs TE recently stated, “It’s one of those things where I’d like to make that decision before they have draft picks and free agency opens and they can go out there and fill the roster appropriately.” Continuing further, he shared, “All of that will be after the season. I won’t think about it until then.”
According to various media reports, Travis Kelce plans on getting married to fiancée Taylor Swift sometime next year. Swift attended the Chiefs’ match against the Chargers a day after her birthday and played aunt to Jason Kelce’s daughters as well.
