During Variety’s Actors on Actors, Teyana Taylor revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio made her nervous while filming One Battle After Another. DiCaprio and Taylor starred together in the black comedy action thriller film, written, directed, and co-produced by Paul Thomas Anderson. One Battle After Another marked the duo’s first on-screen collaboration.

Teyana Taylor discusses working with Leonardo DiCaprio on One Battle After Another on Variety’s Actors on Actors. Taylor revealed that she and DiCaprio were great buddies for a long time, but had never worked together before. She shared that she doesn’t bring her personal equations to work.
Taylor remarked, “This is still Leonardo DiCaprio, and I’m still just little old me. So I’m nervous.” She praised his skills and talent not only as an actor but also as a mentor, saying he made her feel included.
The 35-year-old actor shared, “But how he mentors, it doesn’t feel like one is above the other; he meets me where I’m at. My job is to be present for my scene partners, and be present for my director and my DPs.”
Taylor confessed that she was already acquainted with the warm and kind sides of her co-stars, DiCaprio and Sean Penn; hence, she was comfortable and able to perform her character well.
Previously, DiCaprio gushed over Taylor at the premiere of their film to E News. The Titanic star revealed, “She’s got the best sense of humor. I knew when she was brought into this movie, I was like, ‘This girl is gonna bring the heat.’ And she did. She’s an amazing hang. She’s awesome.”
Furthermore, DiCaprio revealed why the film’s script caught his attention and his desire to work with Paul Thomas Anderson. He remarked, “I like films that have a lot of thought put into them. Paul’s been tinkering around with the story for 20 years. It’s really an unpredictable odyssey.”
Continuing further, he shared, “There are so many deceptive characters in this movie, there are so many interesting layers to it. But it’s this insane sort of action comedy that has so many incredible actors, but the heart of it is about a father trying to get back to his daughter.”
