What Stranger Things’ Dacre Montgomery Is Excited About as Finale Approaches

With the Stranger Things Season 5 finale in sight, Dacre Montgomery opened up about what he is most excited for. While it’s reasonable to believe Montgomery could be excited about the finale, the actor shared that it’s something else involving the show’s creators.

While attending a special screening for his upcoming movie, Dead Man’s Wire, Dacre Montgomery revealed what he’s looking forward to the most when the show wraps up.

The Power Rangers’ star said, “The thing I’m most excited for is now that [co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer] are done with the show, they have so many other amazing ideas that I’m excited about — like, if people love Stranger Things, imagine what else they can do. So I love that,” (via PEOPLE).

Montgomery played Max’s brother, Billy Hargrove, in Stranger Things seasons 2 and 3, with a cameo in Season 4. Now, he is appearing as Richard ‘Dick’ Hall in Dead Man’s Wire alongside Bill Skarsgård. The movie will debut in cinemas on January 9, 2026.

On the other hand, while Ross and Matt Duffer are currently busy promoting Stranger Things 5, they already have a spin-off series in the works. Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is an animated series that’ll cover the events between Season 2 and 3. Although the show will feature characters from the original, different actors will be voicing them.

Outside of the franchise, the Duffer brothers are producing another sci-fi fantasy series, The Boroughs. It will feature Bill Pullman, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Alfred Molina, Jena Malone, and many others in the lead cast. Additionally, they are producing a horror series titled Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. It will feature Camila Morrone, Ted Levine, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Adam DiMarco, among others. Both series are currently scheduled for release in 2026.

Netflix’s Stranger Things is in its concluding season. Volume 2 will air on Christmas, and the series finale will air on New Year’s Eve. For a limited time, Netflix is releasing the two-hour finale, titled “The Rightside Up,” in over 500 theaters across the United States and Canada.
