James Cameron talks about Billie Eilish’s directing skills

James Cameron and Billie Eilish’s collaboration on the latter’s upcoming concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft, is already creating buzz worldwide. Eilish recently confirmed the project’s release date in an Instagram post.

The singer-songwriter had posted, “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) coming to theatres on March 20th 2026 !!!! ??? This has been one of my favorite tours everrrrrr, and being able to capture it and co-direct this film with @jamescameronofficial has truly been a dream come true. can’t wait for you all to see it :’)?(star emoji)??”

Now, it seems that James Cameron is equally glad to have worked with Billie Eilish on the project. While discussing his upcoming film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, with ET, the director also spoke about making the concert film with the musician, and he seemed to have only praise for her.

The 71-year-old said, “It was just so much fun, I mean, she is such a wonderful artist, she’s so talented, and she and I are directing that together, so we will be in the cutting room together. I figured she created the show; she was the architect of one of the most amazing live shows I have ever seen. She earned her director props already.”

In an interesting update, James Cameron also confirmed they used the same cameras to shoot the concert film as for Avatar, which means this could be the best-looking concert film to date.

Hit Me Hard and Soft premieres on March 20, 2026.
