Hugh Jackman received the inaugural Gotham Musical Tribute at the 2025 Gotham Awards, along with co-star Kate Hudson, for their upcoming movie Song Sung Blue. Before he started his acceptance speech, Jackman quickly made a cheeky comment, reeling in his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star, Ryan Reynolds.
Jackman said, “Hey, everyone. Thank you. Thank you so much. This is so cool, and something to make Ryan Reynolds insanely jealous. I love it.”
This is not the first time that The Prestige actor has taken a dig at Reynolds, or vice versa. Their fake feud and good-natured rivalry began around 2009 on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. (via PEOPLE)
Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansson are reportedly close friends. Jackman admitted to teasing Reynolds, who was married to Johansson at the time, on the sets of the movie.
“I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett,” Jackman recalled. “Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set, I was like, ‘Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching.’”
He continued, “We started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out, and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted.”
Over the years, the two have made fun of each other on social media and in interviews. However, they called a truce in 2019 and revealed that they’ll shoot advertisements for each other’s companies. Additionally, the Marvel actors are now the co-owners of the Australian SailGP team, the Bonds Flying Roos. They announced their joint venture last month in a video.
