Jude Law-led Eden is coming to Netflix this month
Jude Law’s Eden will start streaming on Netflix on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. At the time of its release, the film became a box office bomb. It grossed approximately only $2.5 million against a net budget of $35 million and gross budget of $55 million. The film currently holds a 57% rotten score and a 73% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film, based on a true story, takes place in the 1930s on Floreana, a remote island in the Galápagos Islands. The story follows a group of European settlers, including Marget Wittmer and Allan Hancock, who arrive on the island, believing it to be a utopian paradise, seeking a new life.
Dr. Friedrich Ritter and his wife Dora are the first European settlers to arrive on the island. The married couple are initially the island’s two inhabitants until they are joined by the Wittmer family — Heinz, his wife Margret, and son Harry. Their peaceful lives are later interrupted by the vain Baroness Eloise Bosquet de Wagner, who arrives with her lovers, Robert and Rudolph, and her Ecuadorian servant Manuel. Eloise, who aims to build a fancy hotel on the island, becomes a nuisance to Friedrich, Dora, and the Wittmers.
Ron Howard directed Eden from a screenplay written by Noah Pink, with whom he co-wrote the story. The former also co-produced the film with Brian Grazer, Karen Lunder, Patrick Newall, and Stuart Ford. Matt Villa edited the film while Hans Zimmer composed the music.
Imagine Entertainment, AGC Studios, and Library Pictures International are the production companies behind the film. Vertical Entertainment, known for distributing films like She Came to Me and Your Monster, distributed the film in theaters.
Besides Jude Law, Eden’s cast includes Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, Sydney Sweeney, Daniel Brühl, and Felix Kammerer, among others.
