Emma Heming Willis spilled the tea on the Willis family’s holiday traditions, revealing that “Die Hard” is indeed a Christmas staple at their home. “I think it’s important to put Die Hard on because it’s a Christmas movie,” the model said in a recent interview with PEOPLE. Highlighting the movie’s sentimental value to the family, the entrepreneur revealed that Bruce’s iconic John McClane flick is a must-watch during the holidays. Debates around its suitability during Christmas do little to alter their traditions.
Emma Heming Willis’s statement contrasts with her husband’s famous statement that “Die Hard” is “a goddamn Bruce Willis movie” at his Comedy Central roast. In her response to Willis’ comment, Emma Willis told PEOPLE that her husband won’t question her stance. “Bruce loved Christmas, and we love celebrating it with him”, she explained. She explained how it’s more about keeping the holiday spirit alive in Bruce-style for the Willis family.
Sharing how holidays and celebrations have evolved amid Bruce’s frontotemporal dementia journey, Emma Willis said, “There is still joy. It just looks different.”
“You have to learn and adapt and make new memories, bring in the same traditions that you had before,” she added. “Life goes on. It just goes on. Dementia is hard, but there is still joy in it. I think it’s important that we don’t paint such a negative picture around dementia.”
Emma Heming Willis and Bruce Willis have been married since 2009 and are proud parents to Mabel and Evelyn. Bruce also shares three children, Tallulah, Scout, and Rumer, with ex-wife Demi Moore.
