DWTS’ Robert Irwin Shatters 2 Unique Records With Season 34 Win

Robert Irwin’s Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) win set new records. The 21-year-old made history, winning DWTS Season 34 with partner Witney Carson. His victory set a new standard in the dance-based reality show, shattering two records.

Robert Irwin becomes the youngest male winner in DWTS history

Robert Irwin bagged a place in the DWTS history book by becoming the youngest male winner of the Mirrorball trophy. The wildlife conservationist dethroned Jordan Fisher, who claimed the trophy at the age of 23 in 2017 with partner Lindsay Arnold.

Apolo Anton Ohno, who won Season 4 with Julianne Hough at 25 years old, occupies the third position. Meanwhile, Nyle DiMarco, who bagged the season 22 trophy with Peta Murgatroyd at the age of 27, is the fourth youngest winner of the iconic Mirrorball.

However, this isn’t the only record Robert shattered this season. The landmark victory makes Robert and Bindi Irwin the first sibling duo to win the Mirrorball Trophy. Bindi took the crown with Derek Hough in Season 21 (2015). Robert continues the family legacy as he joins her with Witney Carson, exactly a decade later.

This year’s DWTS finale was packed with record-breaking feats. Robert scored a whopping 72 million votes, the highest any winner has received in the show’s history. The groundbreaking win proved that fate works in mysterious ways, as his pro partner Witney Carson also won her first Mirrorball at the same age as Irwin.

He took home the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 34, beating worthy contenders, including Alix Earle and Jordan Chiles. He dedicated his victory to his family, especially his sister Bindi, saying, “10 years later. Thanks for being my inspiration to take this leap, @bindisueirwin – love you”. Furthermore, he honored his late father, Steve Irwin, throughout the season with emotional tributes.

Overwhelmed partner Witney Carson was all praise for Robert Irwin’s determination and strength on DWTS, dancing despite a rib injury. The finale garnered 9.24 million views, making it the top entertainment telecast since the Oscars this year.
