Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe got candid about his intimate escapades with his ex-wife Danielle Spencer, going as far as to reveal the roleplaying name she had for him at one point. In a recent interview, he shared an interesting anecdote about his romantic adventures with former partners, also disclosing a specific movie role he used to woo Spencer.
Russell Crowe reveals his ex-wife Danielle Spencer’s roleplay nickname for him
The 61-year-old actor recently admitted to dressing up as a character from his 2003 movie, Master and Commander, at the behest of his former wife.
During Russell Crowe’s November 23 appearance on KIIS FM’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show, co-host Kyle Sandilands questioned him if he had ever done “the bedroom characters” for a past lover, given he has had “so many great characters” under his belt.
At first, Crowe appeared hesitant in revealing any detail, instead stating, “I’d be giving people away if I was to answer this fully, honestly.” However, Sandilands continued to push the Gladiator star for an answer, causing him to divulge one particular incident with ex-wife, Danielle Spencer.
“There was one point when I was shooting Master and Commander and Danielle, we weren’t married at the time, but we were coming towards our marriage, it was 2002,” Crowe noted. He then shared further details about their interaction at the set of the Peter Weir-helmed project, even revealing the roleplay nickname Spencer had for him.
“We were shooting it, and she visited the set, and she was very much into the high pants and the English navy uniform, to the point where every now and then she’d call me Captain Stubing,” the veteran actor remarked.
Unsurprisingly, Kyle Sandilands seemed to have loved his guest’s answer as he finally shared excitement upon hearing Crowe’s story. “Oh! I like that. Love Boat reference. Very sexy,” he exclaimed.
Notably, Russell Crowe tied the knot with Danielle Spencer in 2003. The duo welcomed two kids during their time together before parting ways for good in 2018.
