DWTS Alum Says Show’s Behind-The-Scenes Culture Is ‘Toxic’

Former Dancing with the Stars star Corey Feldman recently opened up about the dance competition show’s behind-the-scenes atmosphere. In an interview, he criticized the BTS environment, labelling it “toxic.” He also addressed Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s earlier claims that he was difficult to work with. Notably, Feldman was one of the first contestants to be eliminated from DWTS.

Corey Feldman slams DWTS’ behind-the-scenes environment

On Gurvey’s Law Radio Show for AM 790 KABC Talkradio, Feldman criticized the behind-the-scenes environment of Dancing with the Stars.

“There was a lot of stupidity in the mudslinging that went on behind the scenes,” The Goonies actor shared. “Actually, there, everything was great. But the behind-the-scenes drama and BS that people throw around that show, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s the worst, like, most toxic.” (via Daily Mail)

Feldman clarified that DWTS contestants got along, saying that everyone was happy and focused on their work. He stressed that all the negativity came from the press, which reported that castmates had conflicts or were not on speaking terms.

Moreover, he also addressed reports claiming he was an “egomaniac” who “destroyed the show” because he was “difficult to work with.” Previously, Maksim Chmerkovskiy claimed in a Daily Mail interview that his sister-in-law Jenna Johnson had a tough time working with Feldman, saying she had a “bit of an uphill climb” with the latter. Feldman told Gurvey’s Law Radio Show that he asked Johnson about the reports of him being a “difficult” collaborator. He revealed that Johnson told him that Chmerkovskiy simply said what he said to garner attention.

Notably, Feldman released a statement to PEOPLE clarifying his comments. He stressed that his comments were not referring to the show — where he was treated with “kindness, support and respect” — but to “outside commentary,” “rumors,” and people no longer affiliated with DWTS but with a penchant for causing “unnecessary drama.”

Feldman’s comments come ahead of his scheduled return to Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night’s finale. In the finale, Alix Earle, Jordan Chiles, Dylan Efron, Elaine Hendrix, and Robert Irwin will compete for the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy.
