Vince Gilligan, the creator of Better Call Saul, has given his take on Saul Goodman’s fate. Giving exclusive insights, he shared his thoughts on what the Better Call Saul protagonist, played by Bob Odenkirk, might be up to these days. After the show ended in 2022, he humorously tackled this tough question.
Vince Gilligan thinks Saul Goodman has been pardoned by Donald Trump
Vince Gilligan sat down for an interview on The Rich Eisen show, discussing his latest Apple TV+ series Pluribus. During their conversation, Gilligan revealed what a few of the Better Call Saul characters must be up to, including the show’s protagonist Jimmy McGill, infamously known as Saul Goodman.
At the end of Better Call Saul, the titular character accepts the longer prison sentence, confessing to all of his crimes. After mentioning this, Eisen asked Gilligan what he thinks Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman must be up to these days. Gilligan responded, saying, “I think Trump pardoned him.” This led to Eisen, as well as his camera crew, bursting out into laughter. As the laughs continue, Gilligan adds, “Kind of tracks. I think he’s a free man. I think he’s doing infomercials.”
Earlier, when Eisen questioned Gilligan, asking him whether he dropped a line hinting at Goodman’s bodyguard Huell moving to New Orleans after the events of the show, the show creator embarrassingly admitted that he wasn’t sure. However, he continued saying, “To me, I think he’s out living his life. I think Huell, he was bit of a rogue, bit of a criminal. he was a really good pickpocket.”
Eisen also sought Gilligan’s take on a few other characters’ futures. Moving on to Breaking Bad, he asked where Skyler and Walt Jr. are right now. Gilligan said, “I hope they’re not where we last saw them. They were living in a pretty sad-looking dire straits.” He added, “I think they got their life back together,” hoping that Skyler found a good man, and guessing that Walt Jr. probably wrote a book about his dad or has a podcast.
