Joey releases final eight episodes on Friends YouTube channel
Joey’s long-unavailable episodes became accessible this week when the official Friends YouTube channel released the final eight installments of the spin-off.
The upload made the unaired Season 2 entries available in the United States for the first time. NBC removed the show from its schedule almost 20 years ago. The channel confirmed that all content is free to view.
NBC cancelled the series in May 2006 after its ratings declined. Ireland and Brazil aired the episodes that never reached the U.S. DVD releases appeared only in a few regions. The Friends YouTube channel followed its March 2025 plan to publish two installments every Tuesday when it released the remaining episodes.
Joey premiered on Thursday, September 9, 2004, and drew 18.6 million viewers for its debut. Matt LeBlanc reprised Joey Tribbiani as the character moved from New York to Los Angeles to pursue acting work. The cast included Drea de Matteo as Gina, Andrea Anders as Alex, Paulo Costanzo as Michael, and Jennifer Coolidge as Bobby. NBC renewed the show for a second season but moved it to Tuesdays opposite American Idol, which reduced viewership.
The network removed the sitcom from its lineup before airing eight completed Season 2 episodes. Those entries include “Joey and the Dad,” “Joey and the Party for Alex,” “Joey and the Big Move,” “Joey and the Beard,” “Joey and the Wedding,” etc. The Friends channel confirmed that all episodes have been uploaded in full.
No principal Friends characters appeared in the spin-off. Jennifer Coolidge, who portrayed a different character in Friends Season 10, appeared throughout Joey, while Adam Goldberg played Jimmy, Michael’s estranged father. Robert Costanzo was the only actor to return to his original Friends role as Joey Tribbiani Sr.
