Samuel L. Jackson recently recalled the time his wife scolded rapper Tupac. The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 18 to talk about his role in the series Tulsa King. Kimmel asked Jackson about his experience working with Tupac, and the actor told a humorous story involving the rapper and his wife, and how she scolded him for “cussing.”
Samuel L. Jackson reveals his wife, LaTanya, once scolded Tupac
Jackson revealed how his wife, LaTanya, once scolded Tupac on the set of the 1992 movie “Juice.” Kimmel asked, “You worked with a lot of rappers. LL Cool J you worked with, you worked with Busta Rhymes, and in Juice, you worked with Tupac. I want to ask you because I have been reading about Tupac. You remember, because that was his first movie. Now, did he make an impression on you at that time?”
The Pulp Fiction actor revealed he had met the rapper several times. They were supposed to star in the 1993 film Menace 2 Society. However, the “All Eyez on Me” rapper was dropped from the film due to issues between him and the directors.
Jackson explained, “I knew who he was and what was going on. He was a nice enough kid. But there was an incident when we were shooting ‘Juice.’ I wasn’t there that night; my wife was in it. She was the chubby kid’s mom. So all the mothers were sitting in a room. Tupac came in, and he was cussing somebody out and yelling and screaming.”
The 76-year-old actor continued, “My wife grabbed him and said, ‘Don’t you see all the grown women, and you can’t talk like that and use that kind of language?’ Everybody in the room was like, ‘Yeah,’ and he totally apologised.” Jackson jokingly added that from then on, whenever Tupac greeted his wife, he would remark, “Hey, mom. How you doing?”
Notably, Tupac played one of the central characters in the film, Roland Bishop, growing up in Harlem. Jackson played Tupac’s father, Trip, and LaTanya played Steel’s (Jermaine Hopkins’) mother.
