Just before the semi-finals, fan-favorite contestant Irwin took to Instagram to share a special video. In a two-part video, he showcased the good luck charms he kept from his father, Steve Irwin, which he brings to the show every week.

Robert Irwin on good luck charms he brings every day on Dancing with the Stars
In his first post on Instagram, Irwin explains how he has two good luck charms that he brings with him to every show day. He called this ritual a way that keeps him closer to home and to what’s important to him. Irwin then continues to introduce a blue denim shirt and a ring, both belonging to his dad, as his two good luck charms. Starting with the shirt, he shows the holes, tears, and missing buttons on it that have now been fixed.
“I like that it still looks and feels like him. I mean, each of the tears and the holes and the missing buttons tells another story,” he shared. Furthermore, he mentions how it’s a good example of how his father lived his life “at a hundred percent.” He continues to share how he has rehearsed every dance in that shirt, at least once.
In part 2, he reveals that his second charm, which he brings to every DWTS live show, is a ring. Irwin explains that to make the ring, he melted a set of his childhood home keys which he found in his dad’s office. The ring also has the numbers “1638” engraved on it, which is the address for Australia Zoo located at 1638, Steve Irwin Way in Queensland, Australia.
The Australian animal conservationist further mentions how he wants his dad to be a part of his life-changing DWTS experience. “I know I wouldn’t be here without him and his legacy that I get to continue,” he shared.
