A new report surrounding Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic has placed The Odyssey’s trailer schedule at the center of discussion. The report highlights new information about when audiences may see the next preview. Anticipation continues to build as the film moves toward its 2026 rollout.
When The Odyssey’s trailer release date could be set
As per scooper Daniel Richtman, The Odyssey will debut its next trailer with Avatar: Fire and Ash.
His post states that the trailer is expected to arrive around December 18, 2025, alongside the upcoming Avatar movie previews. The report notes that the trailer could also appear online in the days before that date. Universal released the first teaser exclusively before Jurassic World: Rebirth in July. The studio tied the preview to supposedly advance IMAX 70mm ticket sales, set one year ahead of release.
Industry reporting states that Avatar: Fire and Ash will serve as a major trailer day. Marvel Studios is reportedly preparing an early teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled to appear with the film. The report also outlines that there is a possibility that Spider-Man: Brand New Day footage could play before Avatar 3. The MCU release opens on July 31, 2026, and features Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, and Zendaya, all of whom also appear in The Odyssey.
Matt Damon spoke to Empire about the film’s faithfulness to Homer’s poem. He said the screenplay includes the Trojan horse, the Sirens, and the Cyclops. Damon stated, “If it says you are running for your life from a Cyclops, you are going to run for your life.”
He recalled seeing the full Trojan horse constructed for filming and said, “I saw the horse on the beach and I was just like, F—.” He added that the script shows Odysseus tied to the mast as he passes the Sirens and stated, “Chris does not hide the ball.”
New images released by Universal show Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Mia Goth as Melantho, and Tom Holland as Telemachus.
The Odyssey opens on July 17, 2026.
