Regina Hall, who will return as Brenda Meeks in Scary Movie 6, recently discussed her character and teased the upcoming reboot’s plot details. Her performance in the first Scary Movie made her a fan-favorite part of the franchise, and Hall has appeared in all Scary Movies except for the fifth entry in the film series.
Regina Hall talks Scary Movie 6 and playing Brenda again
Regina Hall recently made an appearance on Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast and spoke about why she decided to reprise her role as Brenda Meeks in Scary Movie 6 and hinted at certain details about the sequel’s story. “I read the script — and it was really funny,” she said when asked about why she agreed to appear in the upcoming spoof comedy film.
The One Battle After Another actress added, “I knew what they were intending to do. I always think a work of art is in flux until it’s done and in someone’s hands — you just never know. But the original cast coming back was exciting. Having the Wayans involved again, and Anna Faris too — Brenda can’t live without Cindy. And she’s no better a friend to Cindy this time than she was before, even though they’re still best friends.”
Hall noted how “nostalgia” and the “timing” were contributing factors to her decision. She elaborated, “It was a good time to do something so broad and fun. I read the script and thought, ‘This is funny.’ And I think something is refreshing about doing something a little bit irreverent right now.”
Michael Tiddes (Fifty Shades of Black) is directing Scary Movie 6 from a script by siblings Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, with Rick Alvarez. Besides Hall, the movie’s cast includes Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks, Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins, Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze, and Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore.
Scary Movie 6 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 12, 2026.
