Timothee Chalamet has called Adam Sandler “one of the best fu**ing actors on the planet.” The actors appeared together at an event amid the ongoing awards-season circuit, where both are getting major attention for their latest movies.
Timothee Chalamet has something to say about Adam Sandler
Timothee Chalamet and Adam Sandler participated in a sit-down discussion as part of Vanity Fair’s Scene Selection awards-season programming. Both seem to be in the Oscar race this year, with Sandler for his role as the manager of George Clooney’s character in Netflix’s Jay Kelly, and Chalamet for his lead role in the ping-pong drama Marty Supreme.
During the conversation, Chalamet said Sandler should have already received Academy recognition. He pointed to Sandler’s performances in Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems, which generated heavy awards buzz in 2019. Despite that momentum, Sandler has never earned an Oscar nomination. “I know it’s not about awards, blah, blah, blah. But you should have a golden man in your hand, because you’re one of the best fu**ing actors on the planet,” Chalamet said.
Chalamet also confirmed that he recently wrapped filming on Dune: Part Three. He said the sci-fi series has taken on personal meaning for him and shared that he has “grown up through those movies.” The third installment will release in 2026.
Outside the discussion, both actors played basketball with fans at the event. Sandler and Chalamet have been seen playing together before, and their friendship dates back to working on Men, Women & Children in 2014. Their recent linking up also tied back to a recurring awards-season joke. At January’s Golden Globes, host Nikki Glaser joked that Chalamet’s name “sounds like something Adam Sandler would say,” prompting Sandler to repeat it in his signature voice. He brought the bit back again at the Oscars during host Conan O’Brien’s monologue, shouting “Chalamet!” from the audience.
