TikTok Influencer Sued for $1.75 Million for Alleged Affair With Manager

In a bizarre turn of events, TikTok star Brenay Kennard will have to fork up $1.75 million as compensation after a North Carolina jury found her guilty of ruining a Durham couple’s marriage. The social media influencer, who has close to 3 million TikTok followers, reportedly had an affair with her manager, which ultimately led to the dissolution of his marriage. In response, his now ex-wife filed a lawsuit against Kennard, which surprisingly ended with the jury levying a million-dollar fine on the latter.

The TikTok influencer is currently liable to pay $1.75 million after losing a lawsuit filed by the former wife of her manager, Tim Montague.

According to WRAL, Akira Montague, who has since parted ways with Tim, accused Brenay Kennard of having an affair with her then-husband. She ultimately lodged a case against her in Durham County Court.

Having reviewed Akira’s complaint, the Durham County jury found Kennard guilty on the charges of criminal conversation and alienation of affection. Notably, the law that deals with alienation of affection allows a person to take the individual they deem responsible for ruining their marriage to court. North Carolina is one of the few states where one can still sue people under such provisions.

In her civil suit, Akira Montague claimed that Kennard’s affair with Tim not only caused her mental anguish and damaged her health but also forced her children to live in a household with estranged parents.

Moreover, Akira’s lawsuit accused Brenay Kennard of trying to “seduce” her husband with “flirtatious actions.” The court documents also accuse the TikTok creator of engaging in sexual activities with Tim and posting videos with him and the couple’s kids without Akira’s knowledge. (via USA Today)

Akira’s attorney, Robonetta Jones, has since come out to say that her client deserves every penny of the settlement that the jury has imposed upon Kennard. “She has received justice from losing her husband and the father of her children,” Jones noted.

Meanwhile, Brenay Kennard has rebutted Akira Montague’s claims. The internet celebrity stated that the latter knew about the affair and permitted it, as she knew her marriage was over. “She gave her consent. She said it was okay because she knew her marriage was over with, and it was done,” Kennard noted in her defense.
